Quaranzine

This is an entertainment and humor magazine that I created titled Quaranzine (Quarantine + Magazine). The goal of this magazine is to take a satirical perspective of the time that many of us have spent stuck in the house over the past year or so due to Covid 19. I selected subjects typically found in magazines (fashion, movie reviews, crafts, interviews, recipes, etc.) and presented them in the context of quarantine and our own mental states. I wanted the magazine to embody the uncertainty and somewhat chaotic nature of this period, but in an entertaining way to help people temporarily escape the weight of the situation.

Despite the variety of color and arrangement in each layout, the magazine still retains a sense of unity through the consistent use of randomness, and certain repeated elements such as typography, floating shapes, and collaged images.

I used a variety of vibrant colors throughout the magazine, collages, and different shapes arranged in random patterns on the page to emote not only the humor of the magazine but also the somewhat uncertain and chaotic nature of our minds as many of us found ourselves spending a lot of time in the house. For the cover, I collaged, using photoshop, various images that represented the stories presented in the magazine along with other images of a house, a head, and a brain to represent the context of our homes and minds in which this magazine takes place.
