Paper Trails Branding

Paper Trails is a hypothetical business for which I designed the branding. It is a scrapbooking business that encourages the conscious practice of compiling photos and items with the intention of assembling them in a way that is tangible and meaningful. It is intended to supplement the existing social media and backup technology people use to document, organize, and remember moments of their lives. It offers an app where people can upload and group photos and plan projects that the business will then create into physical scrapbooks and photo books.

I looked through real scrapbooks and pictures online of old scrapbooks and photo books as inspiration for this brand. I chose a swan to use in my logo, inspired by my favorite scrapbook in real life. I wanted the the brand to incorporate a modernized version of some classic scrapbooking elements, such as the corners used to place a photograph inside a book. The purple gradient stripes also give a more sleek, polished feel while retaining a retro design inspiration. The business card is square to evoke a classic square scrapbook with an emblem in the center of the cover.

Event Poster

I created a poster, website, and Instagram post for an event put on by the business. I employed collage elements for the event poster, Instagram, and website to evoke the collages of scrapbook. For the Instagram post and mobile site, I deconstructed the collaged elements from the poster to place throughout.
